Anglican Church of Melanesia has a new bishop for the Diocese of Guadalcanal
The Diocese of Guadalcanal Electoral Board of the Anglican Church of Melanesia has today elected the Right Reverend Nathan Tome as the first bishop for the Diocese of Guadalcanal.  The meeting which was preceded by a retreat yesterday was held Tete Ni Kolivutu, East of Honiara.
Right Reverend Tome currently serves as the bishop for the Diocese of Banks and Torres in the Republic of Vanuatu, a post he has held since 24 May 2001. Bp Tome, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry from the Pacific Theological College in Fiji, comes from Bwauna Village in East Guadalcanal. He is married to Selina Tome and they have six children.
The Diocese of Guadalcanal is the newest diocese within the Anglican Church of Melanesia. The church currently has six dioceses in Solomon Islands and two in Vanuatu and New Caledonia. The Diocese of Guadalcanal will be inaugurated in June 2013.
The Archbishop calls on all members of the Anglican Church of Melanesia to uphold Bishop Tome and his family in prayer as they prepare to take on this important responsibility in the church.
