About us

The Anglican Church of Melanesia is a part of the Anglican Communion membership world wide.
It was founded by Bishop of the Province of New Zealand, George Augustus Selwyn in 1849.
It remained part of New Zealand until it became an ecclesiasticle Province in its own right in 1975.
It is now an fully indenous and autonomous Anglican Province composed of eight Diocese. The Province encompasses two independant states of Solomon Isalnds and the Republic of Vanuatu and French Territory of New Caledonia in the South West Pacific.
