St. Nicholas Opens new Administration building

ST. NICHOLAS school of the Anglican Church of Melanesia ACOM had set another foot further in development as guests from Government Ministries, representatives from ACOM office, private sectors, parents, guardians, teachers and students witnessed the new story administration building officially blessed and declared open by the Archbishop of Melanesia, the Most Reverend David Vunagi on the 27th July.
The admiration by guests, parents and guardians to the building was the cause of proud smiles from  the Principal and her staff  as they will now enjoy working under a conducive and comfortable environment in carrying out their daily duties in the school.
At the opening ceremony, The Principal of the St. Nicholas school, Mrs. Christina Vunagi said, the new building is where all administration work of the school will be housed.

“ Not only that, but it will also enable teachers to have a closer view to monitor the movements of the students in their classroom as the new building was located close to the secondary classes”, the principal stated.
The three year project portrays development and growth of St. Nicholas school in serving the fortunate and giving chance for the unfortunate to acquire better, quality and formal education in the country.

The estimated 1.2 million dollar project was made possible through contribution from the school’s governing body, the Anglican Church of Melanesia and funds generated by the school.
The bottom floor of the building contains conference room, kitchen, typing room, offices and a reception area, while upstairs will be used as staff offices.

St. Nicholas school, the three strand campus – Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary sets record in the education system of Solomon Islands not only for producing top students in the country, but for its availability to also accommodate an ‘ Open school’ system,  a newly introduced education system in the country that gives  opportunities  for the unfortunate or drop out students from schools to continue into formal education system. It is also being on record as being one of the first to introduce computer classes in the Solomon Islands.

The Archbishop of Melanesia, the Most Rev. David Vunagi applauds the work of the students, teachers and the board of the school but also encouraged them to put more effort as they continue on with the good work in supporting the future leaders of the nations.
